NTT Data announced on Tuesday it has opened a new AI-ready data centre, Jakarta 2 Annex Data Centre (JKT2A), alongside the launch of its next-gen all-photonics network (APN) technology to interconnect its other data centres in Indonesia.
JKT2A is certified Tier III, delivers 12MW of IT capacity and combines advanced cooling technologies, resilient power infrastructure and carrier-neutral connectivity to support hyperscale, enterprise and high-density computing workloads.
The new data centre sits within NTT Global Data Centers' Jakarta campus and is designed to extend the ecosystem established by JKT2, which hosts more than 240 network service providers, as well as JKT-IX, major cloud service providers and critical subsea cable connections.
In conjunction with the opening of JKT2A, NTT Data also launched APN Connect, which it says is the first service in Indonesia to leverage APN based on its Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) technology.
APN Connect provides high-capacity, low-latency Layer 1 connectivity between JKT2/JKT2A and JKT3, which are approximately 35km apart.
Yasuhiro Kajiki, MD of Japan and APAC at NTT Global Data Centers, said the service enables real-time data synchronization across geographically separated facilities, supporting disaster recovery, data replication and resilient multi-data-centre operations.
“By expanding our capacity and connecting the facilities through APN Connect, we are creating a more connected and resilient data centre platform that gives our clients greater flexibility as their infrastructure needs evolve,” he said in a statement.
Doug Adams, president and CEO of NTT Global Data Centers, said JKT2A expands the company's data centre footprint in Asia-Pacific and strengthens its ability to support rising demand for cloud, AI and digital transformation services across Southeast Asia.
“Indonesia is one of the most dynamic digital economies in Southeast Asia, and it is creating significant demand for scalable, highly connected digital infrastructure,” Adams said.
